Annual Training Seminar - September 13-17, 2009
Welcome to the 48th annual Conference of the Maryland Chief's of Police Association. As in the past, the conference committee is planning an exceptional conference, emphasizing up-to-date training, and allowing time for networking with our extra curricular activities. We strive to bring Top Of The Line speakers and trainers to the conference, so you, the command officers of your agency, can take back pertinent information. The Association's Training committee has been compiling a training program since our last conference, using your comments and suggestions for training that will be of interest to most, if not all of our members.
We start our conference off on Sunday, September 13, 2009 with the Annual Golf Tournament at the Beach Club Golf Links beginning at 11:00 a.m. See the Golf Tournament Flyer for additional golfing information. Conference registration will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the Clarion Resort Fontainebleau Hotel. At 6:00 p.m. you are invited to attend our President's Reception, sponsored by Verizon Wireless, with cocktails, buffet dinner, and good company. This will give you the opportunity to renew old acquaintances and meet our newer members in a comfortable social atmosphere.
Monday morning there will be full breakfast served in the Exhibit Area in the downstairs ballroom, followed by the Opening Ceremony starting promptly at 8:30 am in the upstairs ballroom. Class "A" Uniform and/or Business Attire required. There will be an introduction of guests, a Presentation by the keynote speaker and the presentation of the Annual Police Officer Awards. The quarterly meeting will follow the Awards Ceremony. Lunch will be served in the Exhibit Area, followed by afternoon training programs. Later, you won't want to miss the "Äll-You-Can-Eat" Seafood Feast we have planned at The Clarion Resort Fontainebleau Hotel.
Tuesday morning there will be an abundant breakfast buffet, with an omelet chef stirring up your requests in the hotel's Horizons Restaurant. The Training Program will begin promptly at 8:30 am. Lunch will be provided at noon, with training resuming immediately afterwards. Dinner will be on your own. All Training Schedules, Topics and Presenters can be viewed on the MCPA Website.
Wednesday morning we will again provide a buffet breakfast in the Horizons Restaurant followed by morning and afternoon Training Sessions, sponsored by the Maryland Office of Highway Safety. Lunch will be served at noon. Wednesday evening the Installation Banquet begins with a reception including an open bar and hors oeuvres followed by dinner and concluding with the installation of officers and presentations. Proper Business attire is required.
The Hospitality room will be open nightly. We urge members to visit the hospitality Room and partake of refreshments and friendships.
We hope to see all of you at the training seminar. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call upon us or any other member of the committee.
Sincerely,
George Johnson and Barry Marsh
