2008 Award Nominations

February 5, 2009

Dear Maryland Chiefs of Police Association Member:
The Maryland Chiefs of Police Association honors officers each year at our annual conference. The below nomination forms have specific criteria for the “Medal of Honor” award and the “Exceptional Police Performance” awards. Please note that the categories are determined by an agency’s sworn complement only, not the total complement of both sworn and civilian. The Maryland Chiefs of Police Association has added an award for “Exceptional Police Performance by a Unit/Team/Collaboration. The category breakdown listed below will not apply to the “Medal of Honor” or “Unit Award” nominees. The categories are as follows:
  • Category “A” – police agencies with a sworn complement of more than 125 officers.
  • Category “B” – police agencies with a sworn complement of 26 – 125 officers.
  • Category “C” – police agencies with a sworn complement of 1 – 25 officers.
For your convenience the nomination forms are also available on the Maryland Chiefs of Police Association website. Please submit your nominee’s name and support documentation by May 30, 2009. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 410-239-8954.
Sincerely,
R. Kenneth Meekins
Chief of Police
Hampstead Police Department
